About

An independent Rotterdam terminal operator serving the international liquid bulk market since 1999.

Fuel Distribution BV is an independent bulk liquid storage and logistics company headquartered at the Botlek terminal in Rotterdam. We provide tank storage, handling and distribution services to oil majors, trading houses, shipowners and industrial consumers across North-West Europe.

Our business is deliberately focused. We do not trade the product we store, and we do not compete with our customers. That independence is the foundation of the trust our relationships are built on: your counterparty is a terminal operator, not a competitor.

The company is organised around three operating pillars — storage, logistics and marine services — supported by a single technical and compliance function. This structure keeps accountability clear and means a customer can be confident that the same standards apply whether the enquiry is about a 5,000 m³ tank or a single truck movement.

How we are organised

Operations sit at the terminal. Our commercial team, operations desk, laboratory, maintenance department and HSE function are all based on site, so decisions are made by people who can see the assets they are responsible for. Corporate functions including finance, compliance and IT operate from the same location, which keeps our processes short.

Our approach

We invest continuously in the terminal rather than periodically and dramatically. Tank refurbishment, leak detection, vapour recovery and control-systems upgrades are planned years in advance so we are never forced into a step change by a regulatory deadline. This measured approach is why our customers can plan multi-year storage contracts with confidence.

Our history

From one contract to a multi-tank terminal

The company began operations in 1999 with a single dedicated storage contract for a regional distributor. That contract taught us the discipline that still defines the business: understand the product, protect the product, and never make a promise operations cannot keep.

Expansion followed deliberately. Additional tankage was added as demand was proven, the jetty was upgraded to accept larger vessels, and the laboratory was brought in-house so that quality control was never outsourced. By the mid-2000s we were handling a mixed slate of distillates, base oils and vegetable oils for an international customer base.

Today the terminal is a fully integrated facility. The next phase of investment focuses on energy transition: biodiesel blending, renewable feedstock handling and reduced terminal emissions.

Our values

Four commitments we hold ourselves to

Safety before throughput

No volume target justifies a shortcut. Every operator has the authority — and the obligation — to stop an operation they consider unsafe.

Evidence, not assurance

We measure and document. Inspection records, calibration certificates and audit reports are available to customers on request.

Environmental responsibility

Secondary containment, vapour control and continuous emission monitoring. We reduce our footprint as a matter of licence to operate.

Independence and discretion

We are not a trader. Customer information, stock positions and commercial terms are treated as confidential without exception.
